Projector Brightness and Resolution

Projector Brightness and Resolution
Projector brightness is the main technical indicator of the projector, usually expressed in luminous flux, which is the ability to describe the strength of the visual response of the light source radiation per unit time, the unit is lumens.

Currently, there are two main types of brightness in the projector industry, including ANSI lumens and ISO lumens. ISO (the International Organization for standardiztion) is the English abbreviation for International Organization for Standardization. ANSI (American National Standards Institute is the meaning of the American National Standards Institute.
There is no fundamental difference between ISO lumens and ANSI lumens, only the measurement method, environmental requirements, etc., then the specific brightness test method will be used in the later courses Touched.

The brightness of the projector directly affects the effect of the projection. We can look at the following two pictures. The first picture is the performance of insufficient brightness, and the second picture is the normal brightness, but it does not mean that the brighter the projector Good, for example, if the brightness of the indoor projection is too high, it will give people a dazzling feeling.

The specific brightness of the projector should be considered according to the actual use environment and the size of the projected picture. The brighter the ambient light, the larger the projected picture, the required the higher the brightness of the projector. According to different brightness, the projector also has different application markets.
The projectors below 2000lm are generally micro projections, which are mainly used in the home market, some business conference markets, and the recently emerging hotel market. 2000lm-4000lm projectors are often used in conference rooms and education. 4000lm-10000lm machines are often used in exhibitions Halls, exhibition halls and other fields. Projectors above 10000lm are often used in outdoor, cultural tourism and other fields. After introducing the brightness of the projector, let's take a look at the resolution. The projection resolution is how many pixels the projector can display.

Generally speaking, under the condition of satisfying the point-to-point input and output, the higher the resolution of the projector, the same picture can be displayed with more pixels, and the picture is naturally finer, so resolution is one of the most important performance indicators. It should be noted that projection resolution and resolution in the general sense are two concepts.

The unit of projection resolution is pixels px, and the unit of resolution is pixels per inch (PPI), this resolution determines the resolution.

At present the more common resolutions are as follows: SVGA means that the resolution is 800 * 600, and the maximum display is 480,000 pixels. XGA means 1024 * 768, WXGA means 1280 * 800, 1080P means 1920 * 1080, WUXGA means 1920 * 1200, DLP the resolution of the projector is generally determined by the specifications of the DMD chip. For example, the resolution of WUXGA, about 2.3 million micro lenses are integrated on the DMD chip.

It means the maximum display of WUXGA resolution the pixels are 2.3 million pixels, which is also the physical resolution of the projector. Some bad businesses on the market only mark the highest resolution compatible with the projector, but not the physical resolution of the projector. The actual imaged pixels are determined by the physical resolution. The compatible resolution refers to the resolution of the input signal that the projector can support, and it is not necessarily related to the actual display screen. When the input resolution is consistent with the resolution of the projector, the projection effect is the best.
